LGSF Steel Coils

Know all About Rust- Free LGSF steel coils. LGSF technology uses one of the highest grade of steel quality available in the market. These are rust-free galvanized or galvalume steel coils that range between 350-550 MPa (Mega-pascals).

Things you should know to buy your first LGSF steel coil.

Material Specification

LGSF steel coils material are majorly specified between Galvalume  AZ 150 & Galvanised 275 GSM each one ranging from 350 to 550 MPa. It is very important to know the difference in the specifications as to the costing as well. Many a time under specified material go below the radar and are passed off as genuine LGSF steel until the time the quote reflect on the project or the materials are randomly tested.

Inner Diameter

Inner Diameter of the coil is very important while u purchase your LGSF steel coil as you have to know the acceptance diameter of your LGSF machines de-coiler. Each LGSF machine would have a different ID (Inner Diameter) so pls take note of that before you place your order for your first LGSF steel Coil.

Spool Size

Spool is the baby coil that is a result of slitting the mother coils as per the split width required for the LGSF machine. The inner diameter and outer diameter along with the pull of your machine will determine how large the spool should be. Typically its is good if the spool weight ranges from 800 kgs to 1 tone as then stacking and lifting also becomes rather convenient.

Stress and Strength

Slit Width

Every LGSF machines uses a different slit width to form the lip, flange and web part of the LGSF steel Profile. Generally this ranges depending on the type of profiles use usually 89mm and 150mm profiles are used which is 182mm and 242mm split width in a 150 mm profile in a FrameCAD LGSF machine.

Outer Diameter

Outer Diameter of the coil is very important while u purchase your LGSF steel coil as you have to know the weight your machines de-coiler can hold, you also have to take into account the height of the axes of the de-coiler to the floor as your spool should not become to large neither the weight too much that the de-coiler finds it difficult to pull in the steel for production.

TCT & BMT (Gauge)

Gauge of steel ranges on the requirement of the design parameters, similarly the MPa also is determined in the same way. LGSF steel coils typically use 0.75, 0.95, 1.15 in 89 mm channel and also 1.60, to 2.00 in 150 channel from the MPa ranging from 550 to 350 respectively. TCT is Total Coated Thickness and BMT is Base Metal Thickness. Its best to talk in terms of BMT as that is counted in for structural analysis.

Stress (measured in MPa) is the internal force per unit area within a material, caused by an external load. It's like the pressure a material feels. Strength, or bearing capacity, is the maximum stress a material can handle before failing or deforming permanently. While stress tells us the load a material is experiencing, strength indicates how much load it can safely bear.
